Crow

Birds are free creatures.  Not limited by the gravity and pull of the Earth.  They can soar above the world and all its troubles, looking down with inquisitive and intelligent eyes.  As we watch birds, we feel that freedom, and they offer us inspiration, and guidance for the questions that trouble us.

It has been shown that Crow has a similar mental capacity to a 7 year old child.  Crow is hugely curious and when faced with a problem will observe it closely, working out what may, or may not, work and then he sets too and tries out those various options.  He is watchful, adaptable, and he understands the mysteries and the magicks of life.

Many people around the world see Crow as a symbol of dark times – of death even.  They feel that Crow is something to be feared.  Others, such as Native American and Celtic Peoples understand Crow in a completely different way, honouring the birds for their prophetic knowledge, the secrets carried between the feathers of their wings, and the wisdom they teach.  They symbolise transformation and intuition.

We, the Collective Consciousness of Humanity, are in a process of change.  Our world is transforming and it is up to the humans to decide in what manner that transformation will occur.  Crow shows us that we shouldn’t jump to conclusions, that if we simply follow the trend of others we are not likely to succeed.  We need to observe, work out the Energy of the problem – seek the magick.  Once we know we are on the path where possibilities are more likely to become probabilities; the path that gives us the potential of flight into joy, and not the one that is more likely to bring frustration and anger with little to no reward – then we decide how we are going to achieve that goal.

When we listen to crows, we generally only hear the loud cawing and occasionally the quieter throat-chatter that they use with their loved ones, but Crows actually have a really complex language.  It’s one of the signs of their intelligence, and this unseen complexity holds an important message for us.  If we want to understand Crow, we have to listen very carefully, observe how they act, and who they are talking to.  This lesson becomes really important in today’s reality – especially with so much mis-information being pushed around social media.  We have difficulty separating the loud cawing from the gentler throat chatter.  The loud cawing is so dominant, so we listen to it without understanding the under-lying message.  Crow is telling us that we need to tune into the Energy of these conversations.  To feel the intent that is in the words.  We need to feel whether the words feel secure and safe, or if they are a warning.

We need to be aware that Crow is also known as the Trickster – are the words saying one thing yet meaning another?  Use that intuition, that gut feeling.  Feel into the Energy of the communication.

Be discerning.
