Animal Medicine #6

She is a wonderful, graceful lady of Africa, the tallest mammal on our planet, and she has a neck that has exactly the same number of bones in it as a human, but is way, way longer. 

When Giraffe comes into our field it really is time to sit up and take notice.  It’s time to be aware of why we are here, to stop messing about with the fluffy stuff and get down to some of the more serious aspects of our work.

Many people have lost sight of the way forward, Giraffe has the gift of perception for you – she can see over the horizon.  From a human perspective, that can mean being aware of everything around you including the things you don’t normally take much notice of.  It means trusting your intuition, your inner knowing – to help guide you in the way to move forward.

Until recently it was thought that Giraffe didn’t have vocal chords.  That they didn’t communicate in an audible way.  We now know that they actually have a rich language – but at a frequency that is below the range of human hearing.  They hum.  A low, soft, gentle sound that travels vast distances.  Giraffe is reminding us that we don’t have to shout to be heard.  That sometimes the soft, gentle way of communication is the most effective way of getting your message across.  Sometimes you need to review how you choose to spread your word.  There are different ways, ways that can be done quietly and effectively, without drama, fear, or anger.  She is telling us that we should work quietly, softly, without expectation of reward or recognition.

Giraffe has strong relationship with her community.  Again, we are being reminded that we should also develop a strong connection to our community – on a physical level as well as within the cyber world. 

I invite you to allow the medicine gifts from Giraffe to enter your field.   Gifts of Perception, Far sightedness, Vision, Intuition, Resourcefulness.  We are each unique, and we should stand up tall, recognising who we are, why we are here.  Looking at our relationship with Self, our beliefs, our self-acceptance, self love.
