Journey #12
When you think of the word ‘riches’, what comes to mind? A healthy bank account; the Crown jewels; a dragon’s hoard?

Maybe your riches are more modest: a place you call home; a regular income; being able to take a holiday once in a while? Or perhaps your riches are more emotional: the first time you look into the newborn eyes of your first grandchild; the achievement of a dream?
For some people, these riches in life seem to flow easily whilst for others, we have to work hard to achieve them. It is the working hard that I want to talk about today.
Regardless of how many riches we already hold in our lives, there is always a goal to aim for – a dream. In Journey #11 I spoke of planting seeds. Here I talk about cultivating those seeds so that we can, when the time is right, reap the reward.
Like the farmer, we need those seeds to fall on fertile ground, and sometimes it is needed to dig those seeds deep, so they can rest until it is time to grow. Within our spiritual belief system we often call this time of dreaming our dreams as manifesting. Yes, sometimes our dreams fall into our laps, but most of the time, like all seeds and young plants, they need nourishment and that takes work in the physical world as well as the spiritual world. What we feed these seeds of our dreams with is energy. The energy generated by going out into the world to seek the knowledge or other tools we need to birth these dreams. We have to do the work to make the dream move from possible to probable to here it is. If it is your dream to travel the world – you need to gain knowledge in how you will fund such a journey, how you will feed yourself and find a place to sleep. You need to work out the visa requirements of the different countries and more. If you dream is for a great job, you need to make sure that you have the knowledge and experience needed to perform that job well.
Sometimes, we also have to accept that our dreams are not going to materialise in this lifetime. The seeds that were planted in Journey #11 are very unlikely to bloom in my lifetime – but that’s OK. I will not lose faith. I’ll just point my energy in a different direction and keep on walking.
